The exhibition will form an integral part of the 56th
Congress and will be held in the Selley Hall at Feather
Market Centre. We believe that this location offers
excellent opportunities for companies to show
their products and for the expected 350 Congress
participants to become aware of new products,
technology and services.
The Selley Hall is now bigger than it was in previous
years because the very large stage has been removed.
All the trade stands will be inside the Selley
Hall and it will not be necessary to use the foyer
areas.
Exhibition space is sold on a first come first serve basis
and will consist of a space of 2x3m stands which
includes 1 table, 2 chairs and a 15amp plug point.
Exhibitors are responsible for their own set up costs
and all stands have to comply with the regulations
as set out by the Feather Market Centre in the exhibitor
guidelines (this will be sent out next year) for
approval. No shell scheme will be provided.
Although the exhibition area has been planned to
maximize the flow of delegates through the whole
area we understand that exhibitors may want to
choose specific stands. In order to make this process
as fair as possible we have instituted the following
process:
Process
1. In March/April 2010 all Exhibitors will be noti
fied via email of the date and time that the
Exhibition floor plan, registration form and all
other pertinent details will be sent out/go live
on the website. The registration forms will also
detail the applicable prices for the stands.
2. Exhibitors may indicate on the registration form
in writing their first, second and third choice
of stands by email or fax. Every effort will be
made to accommodate your request but as
explained in notes A&B below, allocation will
only be confirmed on receipt of payment.
3. The exhibitor sends the secretariat (ICE Solution)
a confirmation (proof) of payment. (Please
include the date of payment; the method of
payment and bank reference numbers if applicable.)
4. The exhibition secretariat (ICE Solution) will con
firm in writing the stand(s) allocated.
Notes
A. At present the demand for exhibition space is
considerable and in order to make the process
as fair as possible we can only allocate
and confirm exact stand allocation/s once
payment has been received.
B. Exhibitors should be aware that if there is a long
interval between the dates that they indicate
their preferred choices (step 2) and the receipt
of payment, their preferred stands may
have been reserved and paid for by another
exhibitor. However, the secretariat (ICE Solution)
undertakes to stay in close communication
with all exhibitors during this process and to
keep them informed of the continued avail
ability or unavailability of their chosen stand/s.
We trust that exhibitors will find these procedures
fair and we would like to assure exhibitors
of our co-operation at all times to assist in
securing their preferred stand(s)
All tea, coffee & lunch breaks will be held in
the Selley Hall (exhibition venue) to give the
exhibitors maximum exposure to the Congress
delegates.
The Feather Market Centre:
In the 1870’s the city fathers could no longer postpone
the erection of further market buildings for
Port Elizabeth. Although funds were limited, the
1866 wool market was simply inadequate.
The Feather Market Hall was completed in January
1885. Market Master John Conry conducted
the first ostrich feather sale, beginning with feathers
owned by PW Court, possibly the first farmer to
suggest taming ostriches, not merely rounding up
wild birds.
On the 10th of December 1885, Governor Sir Hercules
Robinson officially opened the market buildings
with the opening of the South African exhibition
in the beautifully decorated, electrified market
buildings. A festival atmosphere ensued, and a
public holiday was declared. The South African
exhibition lasted a full month and was visited by
about 60 000 people.
Today, the Feather Market Centre provides Port Elizabeth
with a beautiful, multi-purpose centre. Prestige
happenings, concerts, conferences and exhibitions
can all take place here. The complex forms
one of the cornerstones of the city centre buildings
on Market Square.
